AC LaRocco Launches a New Generation of Nutritious Pizzas!

Spokane, WA, February 20, 2008—AC LaRocco has bridged the generational
gap by creating a pizza made with an Organic Ultra Thin Sprouted Grain Crust. Equally as nutritious as its traditional pizzas, this new line of three varieties uses no yeast and no baking powder in it’s crust. The flavorful sprouted grains provide ultimate nutrition and taste that when blended with the exquisite toppings of the three new varieties, produces outstanding pizzas that will please every palate.

The Ultra Thin crust was chosen to add variety to the already healthy line of pizzas that AC LaRocco manufactures. During the plant’s sprouting stage, nutrients are broken down and simplified; proteins are naturally processed into amino acids, fats into essential fatty acids, starches to sugars and minerals chelate or are combined with protein in a way that increases their absorption efficiencies. These processes all increase nutrition and improve digestion and assimilation.

What this means to the consumer is a protein quality so high that it is 84.3% as efficient as the highest recognized source of protein containing all 9 essential amino acids. It also means fewer calories, cholesterol and saturated fat than AC LaRocco’s already healthy regular line of pizzas and also a larger portion. The serving size of the Ultra Thin pizza is ½ of a 9 inch pizza. With the calories at a mere 170, an entire pizza is equivalent to or less than a single slice of many pizzas.
The flavors of these pizzas are as exciting as the new crust. The Bruschetta Style features tomatoes, garlic, mozzarella, parmesan & feta cheeses sprinkled with basil. Old World Veggie is topped with tomatoes, spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, feta, fresh garlic basil & herbs.

AC LaRocco has stepped out of the vegetarian box and has created a Garlic Chicken Parmesan  pizza with a white garlic sauce, mozzarella & parmesan cheese, red onions & bell peppers as well as the fresh garlic & basil.

Over the past decade, AC LaRocco Pizza Company products have been recognized and revered for their outstanding taste and unique flavor profiles while offering the most nutritional pizza on the planet! The new Ultra Thin Sprouted Grain pizzas ad yet another three top quality products to their line of 6 varieties which are on a thin whole grain and high fiber crust. Their reputation for manufacturing all natural, whole grain, heart healthy pizzas since 1996 has won them various awards for quality. AC LaRocco has also  won rave reviews from their fans, many of whom are watching their weight or have health issues such as Diabetes or Heart Disease and have had to give up on traditional pizzas because of the high fat, sodium and calorie content. This new generation of pizzas will offer even more variety by offering this versatile new crust profile.

Diabetes Management Via Pizza...

Spokane, WA, January 5, 2005 --With obesity still topping the charts as the leading risk factor for type 2 diabetes, weight loss and established healthy eating habits may still be the most effective method in managing diabetes. The American Diabetes Association stresses that eating well-balanced meals in the correct amount can help keep blood sugar levels close to normal, and even a 5-10% reduction in body weight coupled with exercise can reduce the chances of developing type 2 diabetes by 58%. Yet in a world filled with fast food temptations and time constraints incompatible with nutritious meal planning, living with diabetes can pose an interesting challenge.

A.C. LaRocco, a producer of gourmet frozen pizzas hopes to spread the word about their low fat, high fiber, all-natural varieties made especially for health and nutrition conscious populations. An innovative dietary fiber called inulin is now being used to reduce overall fat content while enriching fiber, promising new hope to the 18.2 million people living with diabetes in the U.S. Found naturally and extracted from the Chicory root, this fiber is added to the whole wheat and honey crust in two of the A.C. LaRocco pizza varieties, simultaneously lowering the carbohydrate content of the crust while maintaining its integrity and consistency. Some of its specific health benefits to people with diabetes can be seen in its transportive abilities within the digestive system. Because inulin carries water to the lower intestine and is not actually absorbed by the digestive tract, it does not lead to an increase in blood glucose levels. “The fiber we added is highly recommended in all the diabetic circles. In addition to the pizzas’ quality carbohydrates and protein ingredients, the inulin further helps to eliminate spikes in the blood sugar level,” states Clarence Scott President of A.C. LaRocco Company.

Inulin also has the added benefit of acting as a prebiotic by increasing the activity of live cultures (good bacteria) and helping to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the digestive tract. Recent studies on inulin also indicate its positive effect on calcium absorption, as well as its prevention of precancerous changes in the colon. “So many studies are coming out right now about the beneficial effects of inulin, we’re just happy that it’s helped us create a product that will help other people, especially those struggling to manage diabetes” says a spokesman from A.C. LaRocco. In addition to the added health benefits of using inulin, these new pizza products are specially made to impress even the most discriminating pallet while still providing a quick, yet nutritious alternative for pizza lovers, and at only seven grams of credible carbs per slice these new varieties should mesh well with many diabetic meal plans. Various awards by independent researchers consistently land all of the A.C. LaRocco varieties as top picks in blind taste tests, proving that good food doesn’t have to taste bad.

A.C. LaRocco has been manufacturing all natural, whole grain, heart healthy pizzas since 1996, and has won various awards for quality. In a comprehensive analysis of frozen pizzas, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) placed A.C. LaRocco varieties in six of the eight top spots for “Best-Tasting Better Bites,” a highly competitive designation in the pizza world defined as having no more than two grams of saturated fat and 300 milligrams of sodium per serving, combined with great taste.
